Real Estate and Property in Greece
Land and Old House For Sale
Nea Styra - Evia - Greece
This piece of real estate is located on the beautiful Gerek island of Evia,
and is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for property on this
popular island. The land is situated on the side of a valley and the house was originally built on two levels with traditional stone. The photographs show the house three years ago, but now the roof has collapsed.
Although this sale is of land, the house could be restored if required. There is water and electricity connected to the property. The area covered by the house is 70 square metres with three rooms.
There are three large terraces with superb views down the valley and four stone outbuildings, one of which was used as the bathroom. The plot is approximately 500 square metres, and is fenced off.
The land is situated on the quiet side of a small, picturesque village, Kouvelles, where the inhabitants still live a traditional life and are surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful countryside.
It is two kilometres from the sea and the village of Nea Styra, which is a bustling coastal holiday resort for Athenians during the summer. Nea Styra, in contrast to Kouvelles (which is very quiet) is full of life during the summer with good beaches, restaurants, coffee bars, clubs and shops.
Nearby, four kilometres away, is the village of Styra. This is a traditional working village where the local tavernas draw visitors who want to enjoy traditional food in a traditional atmosphere.
Evia is the large island situated on the right of mainland Greece, and is very near Athens: it is consequently a favourite resort for Athenians during the summer months. It is one of the unspoilt Greek islands which foreign tourists have not discovered and where, consequently you can enjoy a true Greek flavour. Some foreigners have started buying houses in Kouvelles however.
From Athens you can go by car or by bus (it takes 1.5 hours and buses run approx. every 2 hours) to the small port of Agia Marina, where you take a half-hour ferry journey to the island. The ferries run every two hours in the summer, and a bit less frequently in winter. There is also an alternative option of driving to the island over a bridge. This avoids the ferry, but takes longer.
The asking price for this property is €35,000.
